Duggan Tunnel Replacement Project
February 10, 2021
Good afternoon,
Just an update for you on the Duggan Tunnel Replacement Project - Before construction can begin, hydrovac excavations are required to locate and identify existing underground infrastructure along the proposed tunnel alignment (111 Street from Saddleback Road/29A Avenue, east along 34 Avenue, north on 106 Street to the tie-in connection north of L.Y. Cairns School). All work will be completed in public right-of-way; however, some hydrovac locations will be in grassy areas adjacent to roadways and sidewalks. The work will include short duration lane and sidewalk closures in various areas near the anticipated worksite locations. Where necessary, detours will be provided for motorists and pedestrians. The hydrovac work is scheduled to begin on February 16 and is expected to be completed within four weeks, weather permitting. The hydrovac work at each location will take approximately two to four days. If needed, temporary ‘No Parking’ signs will be placed prior to the work starting. Regular working hours for the hydrovac work are 7:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday to Saturday. If required, these hours may be extended, and construction may occur on Sundays from 9:00 am to 5:00pm. EPCOR will do everything possible to manage noise associated with the work. We will work to ensure that the work is completed within the requirements of the City of Edmonton Noise Bylaw. Residents may experience general noise from the hydrovac trucks. All affected landscaping, pavement and sidewalks will be restored to their original condition. Impacted grassy areas will be restored to original condition in spring 2021 as needed. We would like to request your assistance with sharing this information on our behalf.
