Ermineskin Community Preschool

Welcome! Located in Southwest Edmonton, our preschool is part of the Ermineskin community, offering a friendly, vibrant environment where children are encouraged to be creative, playful, social and respectful! We have enthusiastic teachers trained in education and early childhood development who help the children learn through play.

In our program, we work towards developing a positive self-image, a sense of independence, trust, constructive peer relationships and emotional stability for our children, which are key elements to successful learning. Our aim is to provide a creative preschool experience focusing on social, emotional, intellectual and physical development.

Ermineskin Community Preschool is a cooperative program with parents participating in the operation of the school. Parent requirements are as follows
  1. An assigned job for the school year (e.g. member of Preschool Executive, Scholastic Coordinator, Fundraising Committee, class representative, laundry, etc.).
  2. One other volunteer commitment for the school year (e.g. Community League Casino or Craft Fair, Preschool Garage Sale, other special events or class celebrations.)
  3. One Housekeeping day. This is where the preschool room gets a deeper clean.
  4. Monthly Duty Day assignment. This is where you get the opportunity to help out in the classroom for a day.

While we do run several voluntary fundraisers throughout the year, there are no mandatory fundraising commitments or fees, we just ask that you help out where you can.

All children must be toilet trained (no pull-ups) and bring a backpack to school each day
 to school each day containing:
  • A clean pair of dedicated indoor shoes (ideally running shoes)
  • A water bottle with their name on it
  • A complete change of clothes including socks and underwear

Community League Membership is required for your child to attend Ermineskin Community Preschool, as the preschool is covered under Community League insurance. Ermineskin Community League Memberships can be purchased at the Annual General Meeting. You should purchase your community league membership from the community you reside in, either at your community league office or online at www.efcl.org.

Please refer to our General Information Sheet or the Ermineskin Community Preschool Handbook for more information on the program and the various volunteer positions available.

Ermineskin Community Preschool typically operates from the first Monday after Labour Day through the last Friday in May.
